It is alleged that the United States has handed suspects over for interrogation in Jordan. For instance, in October 2001, a Yemeni citizen named Jamil Qasim Saeed Mohammed arrested in Pakistan was flown to Jordan in a U.S.-registered plane. Jordan has been condemned by the State Department for use of torture, including beating on the soles of the feet and suspension in contorted positions.
