Steve Coll, Managing Editor, The Washington Post

Mr. Coll has been at The Washington Post since 1985. He has held various positions there, including feature writer for the Style section; financial correspondent in New York; South Asia correspondent, based in India; the Post’s first international projects and investigative correspondent, based in London; editor of The Washington Post Magazine; and publisher of The Magazine. While working in those varied positions, Mr. Coll has covered subjects ranging from the Ivan Boesky-Michael Milken investigations and the Securities and Exchange Commission, about which he wrote a series with David A. Vise that won the 1990 Pulitzer Price of explanatory journalism, to India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and occasionally the Middle East. His South Asia dispatches won the 1992 Livingston Award for outstanding international journalism. Mr. Coll is the author of four books: The Deal of the Century (1986); The Taking of Getty Oil (1987); Eagle on the Street (with David A vise, 1990); and On the Grand Turk Road (1994).
